About Kelly Hoppen
Joseph Giles collaborated with renowned interior designer Kelly Hoppen CBE, celebrated for her impactful, award-winning designs and influential status in the interior design world. Hoppen, with a career spanning four decades, is praised for her contributions to British creativity and commerce, earning a CBE in October 2020.
Known for her philosophy of creating harmonious spaces inspired by Eastern cultures, her style combines clean lines with ‘Perfect Neutral’ tones, bringing warmth to her projects. Her sought-after team has worked on luxury residences, hotels, yachts, and notable projects like One Shenzhen Bay and Celebrity Cruises’ Edge Class ship.
Three unique collections
Our collaboration with Kelly Hoppen involved creating three distinct collections of interior hardware: the Clasp, Intersect and Dot.
We explore each of these collections below.
Introducing the Clasp Collection
The Inspiration
It was Kelly’s microscopic attention to detail that really resonated with our team. The tiny aglet of a shoelace provided inspiration for her design, which sees a sleek and shiny clasp gripping tightly onto a smooth cylindrical lever or pull handle. Just a slender gap is visible in the clasp, but it’s enough to catch the eye beautifully and deliver an element of style that is uniquely Kelly Hoppen.

Developing the Clasp lever
During the product development phase, our design team was put to task with the C-shaped clasp. However, they found it bent outwards whenever the bolt fixing the stem to the grip was tightened. Never deterred by a challenge, our highly-skilled team was able to reverse engineer the design to mean the clasp was tightened along with the bolt, which helped uphold the concept of a delicate gap while assuring a solid mounting.

The Inspiration
The contemporary yet classic feel of this Kelly Hoppen design is derived from the geometric shapes – one angular and orthogonal, one cylindrical and smooth – locked together to form immaculate lines that draw the attention to the intersection. To allow the perfect fit with your design project, choose from any of the signature Joseph Giles finishes, either as a single, bold colour or a captivating two-tone combination of finishes.

Unsightly screwheads posed a problem regarding this snug, minimalist design, but our design team were able to overcome it with some carefully-placed brass panels.

Introducing the Dot Collection
The Inspiration
Characteristic clear and simple geometry is employed by Kelly Hoppen to form the defining features of the ‘Dot’ range. An interconnecting pin between the stem and grip of a door handle helped influence the design concept. It is represented as a small but striking circle bisecting a straight line, etched neatly into the side.

Developing the Dot
What appeared to be an uncomplicated design at first glance proved relatively demanding to manufacture. Engraving the dot detail on a curved surface necessitated a specialist CNC machine with the ability to change axes throughout the high-precision drilling process.
