Have you ever used a lever handle that wobbles when you apply pressure, or doesn’t sit straight in line with the door?

This is a frustrating problem, not only for many designers and homeowners, but for ironmongery specialists too. A sagging lever handle or rattling door knob immediately lowers the quality of a home and weakens the aesthetic.

The Joseph Giles difference

The solution to this problem is the sprung bearing rose, a mechanism that returns a lever handle to its original position once released. The sprung rose is not uncommon in the industry, but we noticed that it didn’t always live up to its promise.

This led us to develop the Joseph Giles sprung bearing, grip-tight inner rose. This innovative and patent pending design is a stainless steel mechanism offering 3 main unique features:

1) Sealed ball bearings within the mechanism provide a firm, stable action when operating the lever, eliminating wobble.

2) Integrated spring & horizontal stop – the integrated spring provides a strong return once the lever is released, and the horizontal stop ensures it always returns to a precisely 90° angle.

3) Recessed design – the mechanism is completely recessed into the door, and is completely concealed by the decorative rose plate, which protrudes by a minimal dimension of maximum 6mm.

This is the perfect solution for internal or external timber doors with a minimum door thickness of 40mm. Designed to deliver a flawless performance, the unique rota-bearing sprung rose has been tested to operate for over 200,000 cycles with no wear or deterioration to its function, making it completely maintenance free for its lifetime.

Where it works best

Our sprung bearing rose is specifically designed for use with lever handles on both sides of the door, operating a latch. In some applications, a slightly different mechanism may be required, for example where door knobs are preferred, when the handle is required to be fixed to operate like a pull, or when a handle is required on only one side of the door.
