Is Quality Door Hardware Worth the Investment?

As designers and manufacturers of door hardware for the high-end residential market, we appreciate that our clients prioritise attention to detail, and want to know the value they are achieving through use of quality materials and fine craftsmanship. Here’s an overview of why our hardware comes towards the top of the range price point in our market.

Made in Britain

Our hardware is designed and made in Britain. Most of our supply chain is also based in Britain, which has proved hugely beneficial post-Brexit, the exceptions being our marble and Organo product ranges, which include materials sourced from Italy.

Aside from a solid supply chain, this means we have more control over the material and processes, resulting in a high-quality, hand-finished product.

Effectively, as the supply chain is based in the UK, we’re paying westernised labour rates, which can result in a higher price point. This also means we can guarantee a more ethical process, and we’re supporting businesses within the UK.

Solid Brass

All our hardware is made from solid brass and hand finished. Brass is a malleable, versatile material offering the best scope for innovative designs, but it is not the most cost-effective raw material to work with. We also use a high-grade CZ121 brass across all our products, which we find best achieves the quality finish the market requires, and means we can match the finish across our full range of product designs.

On top of that, every product you receive from us is hand-finished. This means we can guarantee a top quality, artisan result on every item we supply to a project, and even have scope to offer bespoke finishes where required.

Patent Pending Mechanism

Designed by Joseph Giles, our unique, patent pending sprung bearing rose is manufactured in the UK and solves one of the most frustrating problems with door hardware by ensuring no drooping or rattling levers. Being a highly technical piece of engineering, it is costly to make, but offers a solution that provides complete customer satisfaction, guaranteeing flawless operation, and a lever that sits perfectly level. This mechanism is included as standard within the price for a pair of levers.

In-house Design Team

Our designers are based at our head office, and develop and test every new Joseph Giles product. Having an in-house team is a huge benefit, enabling us to offer excellent service: we can focus on developing new designs with great attention to detail, and can easily and quickly assist with bespoke requirements.

Service

Our company ethos has a strong focus on providing an unrivalled customer experience. From our Specification team, who are there to assist with any sample or information requirements at the start of the project, to our Technical department, who provide a full ironmongery schedule to cover every door in the property, we’ve invested in building up a structure of expert teams to assist with every stage of your project timeline.

Matching Finishes

Last, but certainly not least, we go to great lengths to ensure every product has matching finishes. We use high quality raw brass, which is hand-finished by experienced craftsmen, and then passes through rigorous quality checks to ensure no detail is overlooked. All products are supplied with fixings in the matching finish, right down to the slotted screws provided with each hinge.

We hope this helps explain why Joseph Giles products typically cost more. You can find prices and lead times by registering for the website [link here], or alternatively give us a call on +44 (0) 20 8680 2602 to ask us any questions.
